Lesson #34

My CFI was at Whiteman today and asked if I wanted to solo from Van Nuys to meet him for a lesson. I was a bit reluctant since I wasn’t familiar with flying to another airport solo. I checked the map and knew this was something I could do so I did it.

Once at Whiteman, I picked up my CFI and we worked on some soft field and short field landings. It took me a while to get the hang of the soft fields so we ended up doing a lot of those. We were landing in the nose up configuration so much the tower actually asked us if we needed assistance.

My soft field landings definitely need some work and I have done the research to understand them better, now I just need to get the feeling in order to execute them.

It was a rather short lesson and I flew solo back to Van Nuys. I logged 1.1 hours total.
